Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Black Phosphorus Quantum Dots as an Efficient Saturable Absorber for Bound Soliton Operation in an Erbium Doped Fiber Laser

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We have investigated the nonlinear and ultrafast photonics of chemically processed black phosphorus quantum dots (BPQDs) synthesized by the solvothermal treatment approach, with an average lateral size of about 2.48 $\pm$ 0.4 nm.

Two-Dimensional Tableaux

open access: yesThe Australasian Journal of Logic, 2016
We present two-dimensional tableau systems for the actuality, fixedly, and up-arrow operators. All systems are proved sound and complete with respect to a two-dimensional semantics. In addition, a decision procedure for the actuality logics is discussed.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Synthesis of wafer-scale monolayer MoS2 on sapphire: Unlocking the influence of key growth parameters

open access: yesNano Research
Large-scale synthesis of high-quality two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors, such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), is a prerequisite for their lab-to-fab transition.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Decoding the dynamic extracellular matrix in cancer—3D models and bioscaffolds rewire the rules of tumor progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer progression is regulated by the dynamic matrix code of the tumor microenvironment, which influences cellular behavior and disease development. Importantly, matrix remodeling in three‐dimensional cancer models more accurately reflects in vivo conditions compared to conventional two‐dimensional systems.

Surface cobaltization for boosted kinetics and excellent stability of nickel-rich layered cathodes

open access: yesNational Science Open
The feasibility of LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 as a primary cathode material has decreased due to the fragile cobalt (Co) supply chain and its undesirable effects on structural degradation.
