Pseudo-proper two-dimensional electron gas formation
In spite of the interest in the two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) experimentally found at surfaces and interfaces, important uncertainties remain about the observed insulator–metal transitions (IMTs).

This paper reports a novel HEMT structure that includes a built-in light emitter through band-to-band radiative recombination that is provided via holes from the p-GaN layer and electrons from the 2DEG. The electrical switching and illumination functions

Gas-liquid nucleation in a two dimensional system [PDF]
We study the nucleation of liquid phase from a supersaturated vapor in two dimensions, where the particles interact through Lennard-Jones (LJ) pairwise potential. Using different Monte Carlo simulation methods, we calculate the free energy barrier for nucleation, the line tension, and bulk densities of equilibrium liquid and vapor phases, and also ...

This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Viscous electron flow in mesoscopic two-dimensional electron gas
We report electrical and magneto transport measurements in mesoscopic size, two-dimensional (2D) electron gas in a GaAs quantum well. Remarkably, we find that the probe configuration and sample geometry strongly affects the temperature evolution of local

Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Superfluid stiffness of a KTaO3-based two-dimensional electron gas
Heterostructures based on (111)-oriented KTaO3crystals are a new platform for studying oxide interfaces. Gate-tunable superconductivity in 2D electron gases at the surface of (111)-oriented KTaO3is now reported, with the superconducting transition being ...
