Two mode coupling in a single ion oscillator via parametric resonance

open access: yes, 2014
Atomic ions, confined in radio-frequency Paul ion traps, are a promising candidate to host a future quantum information processor. In this letter, we demonstrate a method to couple two motional modes of a single trapped ion, where the coupling mechanism ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Extreme value prediction of the roll motion under random seas

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
ObjectiveIn this work, two stability failure models, i.e., the dead ship condition and parametric roll are selected in order to study and evaluate ship stability as well as safety at seas.

Photothermal effects in ultra-precisely stabilized tunable microcavities

open access: yes, 2016
We study the mechanical stability of a tunable high-finesse microcavity under ambient conditions and investigate light-induced effects that can both suppress and excite mechanical fluctuations.

Enhanced motion control performance of the tuned mass damper inerter through primary structure shaping

open access: yesStructural Control & Health Monitoring, 2021
The tuned mass damper inerter (TMDI) is a linear passive dynamic vibration absorber widely considered in the literature to mitigate the motion of dynamically excited primary structures.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Assessing the effect of snowfall and cold temperature on a commuter highway traffic volume using several layers of statistical methods

open access: yesTransportation Engineering, 2020
Presented in this paper is an application of the parametric and non-parametric statistical modelling technique to assess and diagnosis the impact of snowfall and cold temperature on classified vehicle volume variations with five years of Weigh-in-Motion (

POD-Galerkin FSI Analysis for Flapping Motion

open access: yesBiomimetics, 2023
FSI simulations of flapping motions have been widely investigated to develop a flapping-wing micro air vehicle. Because an intensive parametric study is important for the product design, a computationally efficient model is required.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Statistical Parametric Mapping to Identify Differences between Consensus-Based Joint Patterns during Gait in Children with Cerebral Palsy.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Experts recently identified 49 joint motion patterns in children with cerebral palsy during a Delphi consensus study. Pattern definitions were therefore the result of subjective expert opinion.
