RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Design and Modelling of a Two-Axis Compliant Joint Based on Flexure Leaf Springs

open access: yesMachines
In the field of parallel robots, traditional rigid joints compromise motion accuracy owing to inherent friction and backlash, thus driving the demand for high-performance compliant joints.

Noise-enabled precision measurements of a Duffing nanomechanical resonator

open access: yes, 2004
We report quantitative experimental measurements of the nonlinear response of a radiofrequency mechanical resonator, with very high quality factor, driven by a large swept-frequency force.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Visual Dynamics: Stochastic Future Generation via Layered Cross Convolutional Networks

open access: yes, 2019
We study the problem of synthesizing a number of likely future frames from a single input image. In contrast to traditional methods that have tackled this problem in a deterministic or non-parametric way, we propose to model future frames in a ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Analysis of the coupling effect of water on deck and parametric rolling motion in regular waves

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
ObjectivesParametric rolling and green water on deck are two critical nonlinear phenomena closely related to ship motion stability, particularly under severe sea conditions.

Thin shell morphology in the circumstellar medium of massive binaries

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the morphology of the collision front between the stellar winds of binary components in two long-period binary systems, one consisting of a hydrogen rich Wolf-Rayet star (WNL) and an O-star and the other of a Luminous Blue Variable (LBV ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Unsteady, Free Surface Flows; Solutions Employing the Lagrangian Description of the Motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Numerical techniques for the solution of unsteady free surface flows are briefly reviewed and consideration is given to the feasibility of methods involving parametric planes where the position and shape of the free surface are known in advance.
