The Two-Phase Hell-Shaw Flow: Construction of an Exact Solution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2013
We consider a two-phase Hele-Shaw cell whether or not the gap thickness is time-dependent. We construct an exact solution in terms of the Schwarz function of the interface for the two-phase Hele-Shaw flow.

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

A single coordinate framework for optic flow and binocular disparity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Optic flow is two dimensional, but no special qualities are attached to one or other of these dimensions. For binocular disparity, on the other hand, the terms 'horizontal' and 'vertical' disparities are commonly used. This is odd, since binocular disparity and optic flow describe essentially the same thing.

Cellular liquid biopsy provides unique chances for disease monitoring, preclinical model generation and therapy adjustment in rare salivary gland cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Sensing Platform for Two-Phase Flow Studies

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper describes the development and application of a sensing platform which consists of fast conductance sensors and proper data acquisition and management software which aims at the investigation of two-phase flow parameters in pipelines.

Pore-Scale Study on Two-Phase Flow in Porous Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper was presented at the 4th Micro and Nano Flows Conference (MNF2014), which was held at University College, London, UK. The conference was organised by Brunel University and supported by the Italian Union of Thermofluiddynamics, IPEM, the ...

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

q-heat flow and the gradient flow of the Renyi entropy in the p-Wasserstein space [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Based on the idea of a recent paper by Ambrosio-Gigli-Savar\'e in Invent. Math. (2013), we show that flow of the $q$-Cheeger energy, called $q$-heat flow, solves the gradient flow problem of the Renyi entropy functional in the $p$-Wasserstein. For that, a further study of the $q$-heat flow is presented including a condition for its mass preservation ...

Two‐phase flow modelling in gas‐stirred liquid vessels with SUPG‐stabilized equal‐order interpolations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The modelling of liquid flow in gas‐stirred vessels is described. A simple two‐phase model accounts for the buoyancy effect of bubbles. Friction between liquid and gas is modelled with the hypothesis of independent bubbles.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories predict survival in trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...
