Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Ranked Set Sampling Based Regression Estimators in Two-Stage Sampling Design
This paper examines the use of ranked set sampling in the second stage of the two-stage sampling design to improve the regression estimator. The mean square errors of the suggested estimators are computed, and both theoretical and simulation results ...

Assessing reduction of cluster size to estimate wood volume in an Amazonian forest
While the Brazilian National Forest Inventory (NFI) is in progress, there is a growing demand to understand the effect of cluster size on the accuracy and precision of forest-attribute estimation.

A composite estimator for stratified two stage cluster sampling
Stratified cluster sampling has been widely used for effective parameter estimations due to reductions in time and cost. The probability proportional to size (PPS) sampling method is used when the number of cluster element are significantly different.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Measuring Access and Practice: Designing a Survey Methodology for the Hygiene, Sanitation and Water Sector [PDF]
Access to safe water and sanitary means of excreta disposal are essential elements of human development and poverty alleviation. It is estimated that one in four people in the developing world lacks access to water while over half the population has ...

Two-stage nonparametric bootstrap sampling with shrinkage correction for clustered data [PDF]
This article describes a new Stata command, tsb, for performing a stratified two-stage nonparametric bootstrap resampling procedure for clustered data. Estimates for uncertainty around the point estimate, such as standard error and confidence intervals, are derived from the resultant bootstrap samples.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

An optimal multivariate cluster sampling design
This article presents a problem of determining optimum cluster size and sampling units in multivariate surveys. When a cluster sampling design is to be used and more than one characteristic is under study, it is usually not advisable to use the ...
