Semantic Attention Guided Hierarchical Decision Network for Age Estimation

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Image-based human age estimation has been a hot topic in the field of face attribute recognition. As the greatest dilemma of age estimation is the similar appearance of adjacent age labels, this paper presents a two-stage age estimation model based on ...

Parameterization and Two-Stage Conditional Maximum Likelihood Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
This paper considers the case where, after appropriate reparameterization, the probability density function can be factorized into a marginal density function and a conditional density function such that one of them involves fewer parameters.

Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

RELIABILITY BIVARIATE ANALYSIS BASED ON COPULAS ANÁLISIS BIVARIADO DE CONFIABILIDAD BASADO EN CÓPULAS

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Estadística, 2011
In industry, reliability studies are done to assure the quality level of products manufactured. Sometimes these products have several failure modes that must be considered in reliability analysis.

Bounded Risk Estimation of the Gamma Scale Parameter in a Purely Sequential Sampling Procedure

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA)
We consider the purely sequential procedure for estimating the scale parameter of a gamma distribution with known shape parameter, when the risk function is bounded by the known preassigned number.

Expression and DNA methylation of 20S proteasome subunits as prognostic and resistance markers in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Comprehensive analysis of genomic mutations, gene expression, DNA methylation, and pathway analysis of TCGA data was carried out to define cancer types in which proteasome subunits expression is associated with worse survival. Albeit the effect of specific proteasome subunits on cellular function, the main role of the proteasome is better evaluated ...

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Estimation of Parameters of Non-stationary Geophysical Signals Based on Two-Stage Approximations Using Local Models

open access: yesRussian Journal of Earth Sciences
The authors have developed a technology for estimating the parameters of non-stationary geophysical signals, using a two-stage approximation with local approximation models at the first stage and weighted averaging at the second stage.

Data‐driven discovery of gene expression markers distinguishing pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia subtypes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates gene expression differences between two major pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) subtypes, B‐cell precursor ALL, and T‐cell ALL, using a data‐driven approach consisting of biostatistics and machine learning methods. Following analysis of a discovery dataset, we find a set of 14 expression markers differentiating the ...

Sleep Stage Estimation Comparing Own Past Heartrate or Others' Heartrate

open access: yesSICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration, 2018
To increase the accuracy of real-time sleep stage estimation when only a small number of sleep data can be obtained such as after going to bed, the information for the subject's own sleep and other's past sleep can be used.
