Two-Stage Plans for Estimating the Inverse of a Monotone Function [PDF]
This study investigates two-stage plans based on nonparametric procedures for estimating an inverse regression function at a given point. Specifically, isotonic regression is used at stage one to obtain an initial estimate followed by another round of isotonic regression in the vicinity of this estimate at stage two.

Two-stage approach to Bayes sequential estimation in the exponential distribution
For squared error loss plus linear cost, the problem of Bayes sequential estimation of the mean is considered. A two-stage procedure, not depending on the prior distribution, for the scale exponential family is proposed in this paper.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Calibrated estimators in two-stage sampling
We consider the problem of the estimation of the population mean of a study variable by assuming that the population means of an auxiliary variable are known at both stages of sample selection. The design weights at the first and second stages of sample selection are calibrated by optimizing the chi-squared type distance between the design weights and ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
