Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Evaluation algorithm for continuous time-delay-Doppler channel parameters of UAVs in 5G-A communication-sensing scenarios

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong
Aiming at the severe threat of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) “black flight” to the safe operation of substations, as well as the problems of low positioning accuracy, weak anti-interference ability and poor scene adaptability of traditional low-altitude ...

A sampling plan for residentially generated solid waste quantification at urban zones of middle sized cities

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2013
We propose a sampling plan intended for medium size cities. The proposed plan begins with a two-stage pilot plan, which helped us to obtain a better estimation of the final sample size when a ratio estimator is used.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Two-Stage Estimation for Ultrahigh Dimensional Sparse Quadratic Discriminant Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics
The conventional Quadratic Discriminant Analysis (QDA) encounters a significant hurdle due to parameter scaling complexities on the order of Op2, rendering it impractical for the analysis of high or ultrahigh dimensional data. This arises especially when

Introduction. This investigation treats the problem of estimating the common mean , of two populations using a fixed number n ...

TWO-STAGE QUANTILE REGRESSION WHEN THE FIRST STAGE IS BASED ON QUANTILE REGRESSION [PDF]

open access: yes
We present the asymptotic properties of double-stage quantile regression estimators with random regressors, where the first stage is based on quantile regressions with the same quantile as in the second stage, which ensures robustness of the estimation ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Dynamic panel regression with fuzzy outputs: A two-stage estimation framework

open access: yesSystems and Soft Computing
Traditional panel data models, while effective in managing longitudinal and cross-sectional variations, are not suitable for handling imprecise data in real-world scenarios caused by vagueness, subjectivity or measurement limitations.
