Disjunctive Decomposition for Two-Stage Stochastic Mixed-Binary Programs with Generalized Upper Bound Constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The disjunctive decomposition (D2) algorithm has emerged as a powerful tool to solve stochastic integer programs. In this paper, we consider two-stage stochastic integer programs with binary first-stage and mixed-binary second-stage decisions and ...

Thermally Pre‐Formed Reconfigurable Resistive Random‐Access Memory Crossbar Arrays: A Dual‐Mode Platform for Robust Physically Unclonable Functions and In‐Memory Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A reconfigurable RRAM platform utilizing thermally pre‐formed filaments (TPFs) is developed to realize robust hardware security. By exploiting the thermodynamic stochasticity of TPFs, exceptionally reliable physically unclonable functions (PUFs) are achieved.

Seasonal assembly mechanisms of wintering waterbird communities in isolated lakes within an intensive agricultural landscape

open access: yesAvian Research
Understanding how community assembly vary across seasons is critical for wetland biodiversity conservation, especially in fragmented, human-dominated landscapes. Yet, most studies overlook fine-scale seasonal dynamics that influence species distribution.

Time‐Resolved Magnetization Switching Dynamics Driven by Orbital Torques

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Du et al. reveal nanosecond magnetization switching driven by orbital currents using time‐resolved Hall detection. The measurements separate domain nucleation from domain wall propagation and show that Joule heating strongly assists switching by lowering energy barriers.

Mesoscale Domain Evolution Mechanism during Alternating Current (AC) Poling of Relaxor Ferroelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric domain variants that are energetically equivalent are expected to remain preserved during polarization reversal. However, phase‐field simulations reveal that inclined domain walls in relaxor ferroelectrics can undergo irreversible elimination during alternating current poling through a proximity effect driven by long‐range elastic ...

Limited Recourse in Two-Stage Stochastic Linear Programs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In several real-world applications, modelled by two-stage stochastic problems, first and second-stage decisions (or some of their components) represent identical variables of the problem that is modelled.

Cutting planes for multi-stage stochastic integer programs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper addresses the problem of finding cutting planes for multi-stage stochastic integer programs. We give a general method for generating cutting planes for multi-stage stochastic integer programs based on combining inequalities that are valid for ...

A novel efficient energy optimization in smart urban buildings based on optimal demand side management

open access: yesEnergy Strategy Reviews
Increasing electrical energy consumption during peak hours leads to increased electrical energy losses and the spread of environmental pollution. For this reason, demand-side management programs have been introduced to reduce consumption during peak ...

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.
