Multistage Stochastic Portfolio Optimisation in Deregulated Electricity Markets Using Linear Decision Rules [PDF]

open access: yes
The deregulation of electricity markets increases the financial risk faced by retailers who procure electric energy on the spot market to meet their customers’ electricity demand.

Integrated Value Function Global Optimization Approaches for Two-Stage Stochastic Programs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
We consider a class of nonnegative two-stage stochastic integer programs with discretely distributed right-hand sides. We develop a global optimization algorithm that exploits the structure of the superadditive dual for mixed-integer programs to ...

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Penalized sample average approximation methods for stochastic mathematical programs with complementarity constraints [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper considers a one-stage stochastic mathematical program with a complementarityconstraint (SMPCC) where uncertainties appear in both the objective function and the comple-mentarity constraint, and an optimal decision on both upper and lower level

Efficient solution selection for two-stage stochastic programs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Sampling-based stochastic programs are extensively applied in practice. However, the resulting models tend to be computationally challenging. A reasonable number of samples needs to be identified to represent the random data, and a group of approximate ...

Room‐Temperature Skyrmionic Synapse in 2D Ferromagnet Fe3GaTe2 Operating via Collective Spin Texture Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a neuromorphic synapse in 2D Fe3GaTe2 flakes. The device operates via a current‐driven transformation from a skyrmion‐lattice to a stripe‐domain state, yielding a linear anomalous Hall resistance response with a tunable slope to enable multiply‐accumulate operations. Simulations confirm its viability in artificial neural networks.

Thermal‐Driven Diode Polarity Switching From Competing Helical Superconducting States in WTe2/α‐Fe2O3 Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A Nb‐proximitized Josephson junction based on a WTe2/α‐Fe2O3 heterostructure exhibits a robust superconducting diode effect with programmable polarity. The diode direction can be trained by magnetic fields and switched by temperature cycling, revealing tunable finite‐momentum pairing states and competing superconducting states in symmetry‐broken ...

All‐Optical Reconfigurable Physical Unclonable Function for Sustainable Security

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐optical reconfigurable physical unclonable function (PUF) is demonstrated using plasmonic coupling–induced sintering of optically trapped gold nanoparticles, where Brownian motion serves as a robust entropy source. The resulting optical PUF exhibits high encoding density, strong resistance to modeling attacks, and practical authentication ...
