Polarity sensitivity and evaluation order in type-logical grammar [PDF]
We present a novel, type-logical analysis of_polarity sensitivity_: how negative polarity items (like "any" and "ever") or positive ones (like "some") are licensed or prohibited. It takes not just scopal relations but also linear order into account, using the programming-language notions of delimited continuations and evaluation order, respectively. It

Grammars for learning control knowledge with GP [PDF]
Congress on Evolutionary Computation, 2001. Seul, 27-30 May 2001In standard GP there are no constraints on the structure to evolve: any combination of functions and terminals is valid.

Automated generative process synthesis via transformer‐based dual‐loop simulation and optimization
Abstract This study presents a novel framework for automated generative process synthesis, addressing the complexity of simultaneously optimizing discrete topologies and continuous operating variables. To overcome conventional superstructure limitations, we propose a dual‐loop architecture integrating generative transformers with rigorous process ...

Erratum to: Grammar Induction by Unification of Type-logical Lexicons [PDF]
This proposition is not true, because the above definition of structurally deterministic is too broad. The correction is to restrict the form of the “provable sequent” ⇒ C in the definition using the following conditions: (i) formula C contains no slash operators; (ii) G-term has no types repeated, and has no subtypes repeated within any one type. With

‘Turkeys Cannot Vote for Christmas’: Why Epistemic Disobedience in an Anti‐Black World Matters
ABSTRACT Never in the history of global coloniality has the idea of epistemic disobedience been as important as in the 21st century. This is not only because the struggle for decolonisation has shifted from physical confrontation between the coloniser and the colonised into a battle of ideas but also because the former has deployed the idea of ...

Objective Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) nonadherence in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) stemming from decision complexities can be improved with shared decision‐making (SDM) tools clarifying benefits and harms. This study aimed to develop and evaluate HCQ‐SAFE, a pictogram‐based SDM tool during SLE visits.

The syntax-semantics interface of ‘respective’ predication: a unified analysis in Hybrid Type-Logical Categorial Grammar [PDF]
This paper proposes a unified analysis of the ‘respective’ readings of plural and conjoined expressions, the internal readings of symmetrical predicates such as same and different, and the summative readings of expressions such as a total of $10000.

ChatGPT for complex text evaluation tasks
Abstract ChatGPT and other large language models (LLMs) have been successful at natural and computer language processing tasks with varying degrees of complexity. This brief communication summarizes the lessons learned from a series of investigations into its use for the complex text analysis task of research quality evaluation.
