Type 1 Fimbriae, Curli, and Antigen 43: Adhesion, Colonization, and Biofilm Formation

EcoSal Plus, 2004
This review is primarily concerned with the first step in biofilm formation, namely, bacterial attachment to surfaces. It describes three examples of bacterial adhesins, each of which belongs to a different subgroup and follows different strategies for surface presentation and adhesin exposure.

Characterisation of epitopes of type 1 fimbriae of Salmonella using monoclonal antibodies specific for SEF21 fimbriae of Salmonella enteritidis

Veterinary Microbiology, 1998
Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) were used to identify and characterise epitopes of type 1 (SEF21) fimbriae of Salmonella enteritidis. The distribution of the epitopes among salmonellas and other enterobacteria was investigated, as well as the influence of growth media and temperatures on their expression.

Prevalence and Occurrence of Type 1 Fimbriae in Klebsiella pneumoniae

International Journal of Science and Healthcare Research
Background: Klebsiella pneumoniae causes both community acquired and nosocomial infections. The various virulence factors have been well characterised in K. pneumoniae includes: capsule, lipopolysaccharides, siderophores and fimbriae. FimH 1, encoding for fimbriae and mediate adhesion.

[Type 1 fimbriae, P fimbriae and X adhesins in Escherichia strains causing pyelonephritis, cystitis and recurrent urinary infections].

Medicina clinica, 1989
The presence of type 1 fimbriae, P fimbriae and X adhesins in 30 strains of Escherichia coli producing pyelonephritis, 30 strains producing cystitis, and 30 strains producing recurrent urinary infections are compared. All the strains were collected from adult women without risk factors for infections of the urinary tract. The presence of P fimbriae was
