Lethal acute aortic dissection complicated with ischemic bowels in the third trimester of pregnancy: A case report

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2020
Objective: Aortic dissection is a rare but lethal disease. We demonstrate a rare case of acute complicated Stanford type A aortic dissection in the third trimester.

A Spatiotemporal Single‐Cell Atlas Uncovers Dysregulated ECM Dynamics and Septal Remodeling Arrest in Human Ventricular Septal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrating single‐cell and spatial transcriptomics reveals human ventricular septal defect (VSD) as a disease of microenvironmental insufficiency and structural remodeling arrest. Attenuated endothelial‐fibroblast crosstalk, alongside downregulated THBS1/TGF‐β1 and MMP2 signaling networks, impairs the endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndoMT) and

Aortic dissection associated with transcatheter aortic valve replacement: Implications of preexisting aortic pathologiesCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Structural and Endovascular
Objectives: Acute aortic dissection is a rare yet life-threatening complication associated with transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Given its low incidence, the characteristics and risk factors remain inadequately investigated.

NCOA4 Accelerates Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Formation by Regulating Macrophage Activation and Ferroptosis via STAT1–CH25H Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Under pathological stimulation, NCOA4 in macrophages interacts with STAT1 to promote CH25H transcription. The subsequent increase in 25‐HC production activates macrophages, triggers inflammatory responses and ferroptosis, and accelerates the progression of AAA.

Lactate Signal: Modulator of Cellular Energy Production and Anabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Compartmentalized lactate signaling provides a spatial framework for understanding how lactate‐rich states are generated, transported, sensed, and translated into biological outputs. This Review integrates extracellular, cytosolic, mitochondrial‐associated, and nuclear lactate mechanisms to explain how lactate shapes metabolic adaptation, immune ...

Checkpoint‐Directed Glycoengineering Reprograms the Vascular Lumen for Siglec‐Mediated Immune Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Checkpoint‐directed glycoengineering installs sialylated ligands on the donor vascular lumen during ex vivo preservation, creating a localized Siglec‐7/9‐engaging interface. The engineered glycocalyx suppresses immune‐cell activation, complement deposition, and microvascular injury in arterial and kidney allografts while preserving endothelial ...

Diabetes does not increase in-hospital or short-term mortality in patients undergoing surgical repair for type A aortic dissection: insight from the national readmission database

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology
Background Previous studies have reported a protective effect of type 2 diabetes on the incidence and progression of aortic aneurysms. We investigated whether this protective effect extends to aortic dissections.

Targeting Nupr1‐Mediated p53 Mitochondrial Sequestration Alleviates Aortic Dissection by Restoring the Gadd45b‐Dependent Survival Program

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies Nupr1 as a crucial stress‐responsive orchestrator driving AD. Under severe stress, Nupr1 massively accumulates within mitochondria to sequester p53, triggering apoptosis and concurrently repressing the Gadd45b‐mediated survival program.

Barbed Sutures Are Associated With a Lower Incidence of Incisional Hernia Compared With Continuous Non‐Barbed Monofilament Sutures After Minimally Invasive Gastroenterological Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Incisional hernia remains a common complication after minimally invasive gastroenterological surgery despite small extraction incisions. In this propensity score‐weighted analysis, barbed sutures significantly reduced the incidence of incisional hernia compared with conventional slowly absorbable monofilament sutures without increasing postoperative ...

Thermally Drawn Bioelectric Catheters: Enabling Proprioceptive Endovascular Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work introduces a novel bioelectric navigation system eliminates the need for harmful fluoroscopy during endovascular surgeries. A bespoke 16‐electrode catheter is fabricated using rapid thermal drawing and laser micro‐machining. Paired with a real‐time tracking algorithm fusing vascular geometry detection and distance estimation, this technology ...
