Canonical Notch Signaling in the Developing Lung Is Required for Determination of Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells and Selection of Clara Versus Ciliated Cell Fate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Lung development is the result of complex interactions between four tissues: epithelium, mesenchyme, mesothelium and endothelium. We marked the lineages experiencing Notch1 activation in these four cellular compartments during lung development and ...

Brittle fracture of U-notched graphite plates under mixed mode loading

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2012
Abstract Brittle fracture of isostatic polycrystalline graphite is studied experimentally, theoretically and numerically using U-notched samples under mode I and mixed mode loading (I + II) considering different combinations of the notch radius and the tilt angle of the notch.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Photoelastic Examination of Stress Concentration Factor for U-Notched Tension Bar

open access: yesTransactions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1958
In this paper, the relation between the stress concentration factor and the depth of notch in U-notched tension bar is examined by means of the photoelastic method. According to the experimental results, the stress concentration factor does not always increase with increase of the depth of notch, but it is larger for notches of medium depth than for ...

Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces

Tissue‐Adhesive Fabric‐Based Bioelectronics for Wearable and Implantable Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An implantable and wearable bioelectronic textile (iTextile) is introduced as a unified platform bridging wearable and implantable systems. By integrating a self‐healing polymer, stretchable silk fabric, conductive composite electrodes, and an adhesive hydrogel, the platform enables conformal, stable interfacing with soft tissues. The iTextile supports

A Fully Adaptive Lattice-based Notch Filter for Mitigation of Interference in GPS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Intentional interference presents a major threat to the operation of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems. Adaptive notch filtering provides an excellent countermeasure and deterrence against narrowband interference.

On the potential in a strip with a pair of 𝑈 notches [PDF]

open access: yesQuarterly of Applied Mathematics, 1985
In \({\mathbb{R}}^ 2\), consider the strip \(y=0\), \(y=2a\) with a pair of U notches. The upper U notch is of the same size as the lower one and located symmetrically with respect to the line \(y=a\). The paper deals with the problem of finding a function in \({\mathbb{R}}^ 2\) which gives potential on the lower boundary as 1 and that on the upper ...

Tannic Acid‐Modified Cellulose Nanofiber Reinforced Polymerizable Eutectogels for High‐Performance Stretchable Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polymerizable deep eutectic solvent is reinforced with tannic acid‐modified cellulose nanofibers to construct a hierarchical dynamic eutectogel network. Synergistic covalent and reversible interactions impart ultrahigh stretchability, high ionic conductivity, broad temperature tolerance, self‐healing, and strong adhesion, enabling robust wearable ...
