Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme genes in Oesophagostomum dentatum
Parasitology Research, 2006Full-length genes representing different isoforms of the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme UBC-2 were isolated from Oesophagostomum dentatum, cloned and sequenced. The alignment of their sequences (designated Od-ubc-2.1 to Od-ubc-2.3) revealed nucleotide variation at three positions within the predicted open reading frame of 444 bp.

Conformational Flexibility of a Ubiquitin Conjugation Enzyme (E2)
Biochemistry, 1999Ubiquitination plays important roles in a variety of biological processes, such as DNA repair, cell cycle regulation, and p53-dependent processes. Despite intensive studies in ubiquitination, the mechanism of substrate recognition is still not well understood.

Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2C: A potential cancer biomarker
The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 2014The ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes 2C (UBE2C) is an integral component of the ubiquitin proteasome system. UBE2C consists of a conserved core domain containing the catalytic Cys residue and an N-terminal extension. The core domain is required for ubiquitin adduct formation by interacting with the ubiquitin-fold domain in the E1 enzyme, and contributes ...

Characterization of the mouse ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme gene UbcM4
Mammalian Genome, 1999The ubiquitination pathway targets not only normal (short-lived) intracellular eukaryotic proteins for degradation when appropriate, but also serves to eliminate mutant/misfolded proteins from the cell. An understanding of the molecular basis of the interaction between the ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s), ubiquitin protein ligases (E3s), and target

QRI8, a novel ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Structure and Expression, 1992We have cloned and sequenced the gene encoding a novel ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Disruption of this gene shows that it is not essential for cell viability.

Characterization of a human ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme gene UBE2L3
Mammalian Genome, 1996Ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s) are essential components of the post-translational protein ubiquitination pathway, mediating the transfer of activated ubiquitin to substrate proteins. We have identified a human gene, UBE2L3, localized on Chromosome (Chr) 22q11.

Ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes: novel regulators of eukaryotic cells
Trends in Biochemical Sciences, 1990Covalent attachment of ubiquitin to cellular proteins is essential for cell viability and is catalysed by a set of distinct ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes. Individual members of this novel enzyme family mediate strikingly diverse functions, including DNA repair, cell cycle control, selective protein degradation and essential functions of the stress ...
