Regulatory role of ATF2 in trophoblast ferroptosis via the PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 pathway in gestational diabetes mellitus

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ATF2 is highly expressed in GDM placental tissues and promotes ferroptosis in trophoblast cells by inhibiting the PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 pathway, thereby affecting trophoblast function and GDM progression. ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction To investigate the expression of ATF2 in GDM patients and its impact on trophoblast viability and ferroptosis, as well as to ...

Rice black‐streaked dwarf virus‐encoded P6 protein impairs OsPelota‐mediated antiviral RNA decay defense via promoting OsSCE1b ubiquitination and degradation in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The P6 protein encoded by rice black‐streaked dwarf virus enhances degradation of the rice SUMO E2 conjugating enzyme OsSCE1b through the ubiquitin/26S proteasome pathway; OsSCE1b degradation results in decreased SUMOylation of OsPelota, thereby suppressing RNA decay‐dependent antiviral defenses in rice. ABSTRACT Rice black‐streaked dwarf virus (RBSDV)

The Evolution of Locally Adaptive Chromosome Inversions in Mimulus guttatus

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chromosomal inversion polymorphisms are ubiquitous across the diversity of diploid organisms and play a significant role in the evolution of adaptations in those species. Inversions are thought to operate as supergenes by trapping adaptive alleles at multiple linked loci through the suppression of recombination. While there is now considerable

Porphyromonas gingivalis GroEL accelerates abdominal aortic aneurysm formation by matrix metalloproteinase‐2 SUMOylation in vascular smooth muscle cells: A novel finding for the activation of MMP‐2

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Infection is a known cause of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), and matrix metalloproteases‐2 (MMP‐2) secreted by vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs) plays a key role in the structural disruption of the middle layer of the arteries during AAA progression.

Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2C: a potential cancer biomarker.

The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 2014
The ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes 2C (UBE2C) is an integral component of the ubiquitin proteasome system. UBE2C consists of a conserved core domain containing the catalytic Cys residue and an N-terminal extension. The core domain is required for ubiquitin adduct formation by interacting with the ubiquitin-fold domain in the E1 enzyme, and contributes ...

Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme genes in Oesophagostomum dentatum

Parasitology Research, 2006
Full-length genes representing different isoforms of the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme UBC-2 were isolated from Oesophagostomum dentatum, cloned and sequenced. The alignment of their sequences (designated Od-ubc-2.1 to Od-ubc-2.3) revealed nucleotide variation at three positions within the predicted open reading frame of 444 bp.

Conformational Flexibility of a Ubiquitin Conjugation Enzyme (E2)

Biochemistry, 1999
Ubiquitination plays important roles in a variety of biological processes, such as DNA repair, cell cycle regulation, and p53-dependent processes. Despite intensive studies in ubiquitination, the mechanism of substrate recognition is still not well understood.

Characterization of the mouse ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme gene UbcM4

Mammalian Genome, 1999
The ubiquitination pathway targets not only normal (short-lived) intracellular eukaryotic proteins for degradation when appropriate, but also serves to eliminate mutant/misfolded proteins from the cell. An understanding of the molecular basis of the interaction between the ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s), ubiquitin protein ligases (E3s), and target

QRI8, a novel ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Structure and Expression, 1992
We have cloned and sequenced the gene encoding a novel ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Disruption of this gene shows that it is not essential for cell viability.

Characterization of a human ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme gene UBE2L3

Mammalian Genome, 1996
Ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s) are essential components of the post-translational protein ubiquitination pathway, mediating the transfer of activated ubiquitin to substrate proteins. We have identified a human gene, UBE2L3, localized on Chromosome (Chr) 22q11.
