Surface metallization and application of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers and fabrics suffer from weak interfacial bonding with composite matrix due to their chemically inert surface and high crystallinity, thereby affecting the performance of composite materials.

Modifying the crystallinity of PLA and its properties through annealing. ABSTRACT The melt and cold crystallization behavior of two PLA grades with different molecular weights was investigated using various DSC analyses. During isothermal melt crystallization, PLA with lower molecular weight exhibited faster crystallization kinetics across different ...

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Melting and crystallization of UHMWPE skived film [PDF]
Commercial skived film from ultra-high molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with considerable uniaxial orientation of lamellae is studied by ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering (USAXS) and wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) during melting and crystallization in order to identify its mechanisms of crystallization.

Effect of brominated UHMWPE on the properties and structure of the resulting UHMWPE/boron carbide nanocomposite [PDF]
The polar surface of inorganic nanoparticles and the nonpolar surface of a polymer are thermodynamically incompatible. This is the reason for the insufficient improvement of polymer properties by the addition of nanoparticles. Therefore, the technology of UHMWPE bromination is developed in order to create an agent affecting the interphase interaction ...
