Experience, aptitude and individual differences in native language ultimate attainment [PDF]
Several recent studies have demonstrated that some native speakers do not fully master some fairly basic grammatical constructions of their language, thus challenging the widely-held assumption that all native speakers converge on the same grammar. This study investigates the extent of individual differences in adult native speakers' knowledge of a ...

Energy tunnel linings thermo-mechanical performance: comparison between field observations and numerical modelling [PDF]
Energy linings are receiving great interest due to their potential to transform a tunnel into a smart energy system for enhancing thermal comfort of buildings and metro stations, as well as to absorb waste heat from the tunnel environment.

Is Adult Second Language Acquisition Defective?
There is a large literature showing that adult L2 learners, in contrast to children, often fail to acquire native-like competence in the second language.

Attaining the Ultimate Precision Limit in Quantum State Estimation [PDF]
We derive a bound on the precision of state estimation for finite dimensional quantum systems and prove its attainability in the generic case where the spectrum is non-degenerate. Our results hold under an assumption called local asymptotic covariance, which is weaker than unbiasedness or local unbiasedness.

Ultimate Vacuum Attainable by a Diffusion Pump [PDF]
THE following experiments were recently performed to see the nature of pumping action inside a diffusion pump and to throw some light on the controversial question of the ultimate vacuum attainable by a diffusion pump.

Primary accumulation in the Soviet transition [PDF]

Cost-effectiveness analysis of low density lipoprotein cholesterol-lowering therapy in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes in Korea: single-pill regimen (amlodipine/atorvastatin) versus double-pill regimen (amlodipine+atorvastatin) [PDF]
OBJECTIVES: Single-pill combination therapy (amlodipine/atorvastatin) might be more effective than double-pill therapy (amlodipine+atorvastatin) in patients with diabetes and concomitant hypertension requiring statin therapy.

Factors Affecting Grammatical and Lexical Complexity of Long-Term L2 Speakers’ Oral Proficiency [PDF]
There remains considerable disagreement about which factors drive second language (L2) ultimate attainment. Age of onset (AO) appears to be a robust factor, lending support to theories of maturational constraints on L2 acquisition.

Roughness-facilitated local 1/2 scaling does not imply the onset of the ultimate regime of thermal convection [PDF]
In thermal convection, roughness is often used as a means to enhance heat transport, expressed in Nusselt number. Yet there is no consensus on whether the Nusselt vs.

The Role of Theory in SLA Empirical Research on the Critical Period Hypothesis
This paper sets out to peruse the role of various theories or more precisely, hypotheses invoked in SLA research by surveying three empirical studies pertaining to the critical period hypothesis in the SLA of phonetics and phonology.
