Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

SoniControl - A Mobile Ultrasonic Firewall

open access: yes, 2018
The exchange of data between mobile devices in the near-ultrasonic frequency band is a new promising technology for near field communication (NFC) but also raises a number of privacy concerns.

Design and implementation of a real-time autonomous navigation system applied to lego robots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Teaching theoretical concepts of a real-time autonomous robot system may be a challenging task without real hardware support. The paper discusses the application of the Lego Robot for teaching multi interdisciplinary subjects to Mechatronics students.

The Fate (Outcome) of Clinically Apparent Single Lesion and Oligofocal Nephroblastomatosis Treated According to SIOP/GPOH Protocols for Wilms Tumor

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The management of clinically apparent single lesions or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis, a facultative precursor of nephroblastoma, remains debated. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 37 patients with clinically apparent single or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis (two to three lesions per kidney) among 2347 patients registered between

Two-Stage Ultrasound Signal Recognition Method Based on Envelope and Local Similarity Features

open access: yesMachines, 2022
Accurate identification of ultrasonic signals can effectively improve the accuracy of a defect detection and inversion. Current methods, based on machine learning and deep learning have been able to classify signals with significant differences. However,

Optical fiber sensor for ultrasonic detection at high temperature

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
Because of the stable material property of optical fiber up to 1000℃, fiber-optic Bragg grating (FBG) sensor is considered as one of possible ultrasonic sensors used at ultrahigh temperature.

Ultrasonic distance detection for a closed-loop spinal cord stimulation system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
When stimulating the spinal cord at a constant strength, the current density in the spinal cord and thus the effects on chronic, intractable pain and vascular insufficiency will change with body position, due to the varying separation of the spinal cord ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Ultrasonic detection of parathyroid adenomas

open access: yesThe British Journal of Radiology, 1992
Murchison et al (1991) are to be congratulated on the high accuracy they report for the pre-operative localization of large parathyroid tumours in a small series, and their figures confirm the supremacy of ultrasound for pre-operative localization in primary hyperparathyroidism.
