Experiments on the ultrasonic detection of buffer layer ablation defects in high-voltage cables

open access: yes电力工程技术
The ablation fault of buffer layers in high-voltage cables is a frequent type of cable fault in recent years. However, current detection methods for ablation defects cannot meet the detection requirements of existing cables. In this paper, the ultrasonic

Compressive sampling–based ultrasonic computerized tomography technique for damage detection in concrete-filled steel tube in a bridge

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2021
Ultrasonic computerized tomography is a promising technique for damage detection by enabling ultrasonic waves via multiple measurement paths leading to accurate localization of structural damage. Unlike traditional ultrasonic computerized tomography that

The Inter-Mammary Sticky Roll: A Novel Technique for Securing a Doppler Ultrasonic Probe to the Precordium for Venous Air Embolism Detection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Venous air embolism is a devastating and potentially life-threatening complication that can occur during neurosurgical procedures. We report the development and use of the "inter-mammary sticky roll," a technique to reliably secure a precordial Doppler ...

Multiple wavemode scanning for near and far-side defect characterisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The combination of ultrasonic inspections using different wavemodes can give more information than is available with single mode inspection. In this work, the response of shear and Rayleigh waves to surface-breaking defects propagating on the near-side ...

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Comparison of Leak Localization and Quantification Methods for Compressed Air Systems Using Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis

open access: yesEnergies
Compressed air leakages represent a major source of energy waste and financial loss in industrial facilities. However, accurately detecting and quantifying these leaks remains challenging due to the wide variation in the accuracy, cost, usability, and ...

A Defect Detection Method for the Surface of Metal Materials Based on an Adaptive Ultrasound Pulse Excitation Device and Infrared Thermal Imaging Technology

open access: yesComplexity, 2021
Ultrasonic excitation has been widely used in the detection of microcracks on metal surfaces, but there are problems such as poor excitation effect of ultrasonic pulse, long time to reach the best excitation, and difficult to find microcracks.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Research progress of automated ultrasonic imaging detection technology for complex aircraft components

open access: yesJournal of Aeronautical Materials
Traditional ultrasonic automated non-destructive testing is a great challenge in the inspection of aviation components with complex surfaces. Complex surfaces can interfere with the formation of the focus in the sound beam, and the waveform transformation

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
