Ultrasonic detection of parathyroid adenomas

open access: yesThe British Journal of Radiology, 1992
Murchison et al (1991) are to be congratulated on the high accuracy they report for the pre-operative localization of large parathyroid tumours in a small series, and their figures confirm the supremacy of ultrasound for pre-operative localization in primary hyperparathyroidism.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The detection of hydrogen induced cracking in welded and seamless steel pipes using acoustic emission and ultrasonic techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The detection and location of hydrogen induced cracks In steel pipes is unreliable and time consuming because of the unpredictable nature of the defect and the lack of sensitivity of conventional non destructive testing techniques.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Experimental device for simulating reverberation environment in deep sea mining

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2017
To solve the difficult problem of ultrasonic signal acquisition with respect to real-time tiny terrain detection in the deep-sea mining environment, an experimental ultrasonic detection system was designed and built that can simulate the real deep-sea ...

Two-Stage Ultrasound Signal Recognition Method Based on Envelope and Local Similarity Features

open access: yesMachines, 2022
Accurate identification of ultrasonic signals can effectively improve the accuracy of a defect detection and inversion. Current methods, based on machine learning and deep learning have been able to classify signals with significant differences. However,

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Investigation into the use of zero angle ultrasonic probe array for defect detection and location [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The steel industry like any other manufacturing process is under constant pressure to deliver higher quality defect free material at lower cost to customers.

An Ultrasonic Target Detection System Based on Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
In this paper, an ultrasonic target detection system based on Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers (PMUTs) is proposed, which consists of the PMUTs based ultrasonic sensor and the sensor system. Two pieces of 3 × 3 PMUTs arrays with the resonant frequency of 115 kHz are used as transmitter and receiver of the PMUTs-based ultrasonic sensor.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
