Heat generation and distribution in the ultrasonic hot embossing process
Microsystem Technologies, 2016Microstructures are fabricated from polymer foils in seconds by a new process called ultrasonic hot embossing. This process allows to realize new designs within a day and is suitable both for large- and small-scale production. The required investment costs are in the order of some 10,000 ź.

Screwed micro fluidic connections fabricated by ultrasonic hot embossing and welding
Microsystem Technologies, 2018Recent connection methods to micro fluidic chips, such as gluing tubes and hoses into orifices or pressing a gasket on them have been studied to improve the common problem to establish a connection of the macroscopic world to a fluidic micro system.

Ultrasonic Hot Embossing and Welding of Micro Structures
2011Ultrasonic hot embossing allows the fabrication of micro structures from polymer films by moulding from a master tool. The fabrication process is completed within seconds and the investment costs are low. With micro patterned tools, structured surfaces can be created on one or both sides of polymer films.

Ultrasonic Hot Embossed Polymer Microreactors for Optical Measurement of Chemical Reactions
Chemical Engineering & Technology, 2014AbstractUltrasonic hot embossing of polymers is an alternative to reduce fabrication costs of microreactors. An ultrasonic welding machine is used to melt a stack of thermoplastic foils and adapting them to a short‐time milled aluminum mold showing the inversed design of the desired microfluidic cavities.

Development of precision transfer technology of atmospheric hot embossing by ultrasonic vibration
Microsystem Technologies, 2006We succeeded to transfer a precise micro-pattern combining with an ultrasonic vibration in an atmospheric hot embossing on the almost same condition as a vacuum hot embossing. This paper reports the effect of the ultrasonic vibration that was verified experimentally.

Finite element analysis of ultrasonic vibration-assisted microstructure hot glass embossing process
Australian Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2017AbstractHot glass embossing is a novel technology to manufacture microtips for Field Emission Displays with high quality and low cost. This technology recently has been assisted by ultrasonic vibration. Previous studies showed that high energy of ultrasonic vibration would lead to the temperature rise inside the glass so that micro-formability of glass
