Char Layer Thickness Evolution During Structural Timber Fire Experiment and Final Density Profile

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper evaluates several non‐destructive experimental methods for determining the char layer thickness and its density profile in structural timber samples exposed to standard ISO 834 fire curve experiments. Microwave echo pulse, ultrasonic echo pulse, X‐ray computed tomography, and resistance drilling were evaluated.

Beeswax: Food and beyond

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, EarlyView.
Abstract Honeybees (Apis mellifera L.) are an important class of insects that are the most beneficial in terms of economy. Beeswax is the second most important bee products after honey. Its commercial importance is due to its antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory and antiseptic as well as regenerative properties.

Zinc Oxide‐Based Nanocomposite Photoelectrodes for Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting: A Review on Structural Modifications and Performance Optimization

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
Zinc oxide (ZnO) is highlighted as a highly potential photoanode material owing to its unique properties and multifunctionality. Thorough investigations are conducted for the enhancement of ZnO photoelectrodes, including doping, semiconductor coupling, defect engineering, and the inclusion of metallic nanoparticles.

Modulating Charge Carrier Dynamics Through Tailored Hole Transport Layers in Perovskite Photovoltaics

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
This study investigates alternative hole transport materials (HTMs) for n‐i‐p perovskite solar cells, comparing Spiro‐OMeTAD, PTAA, P3HT, and H101. PTAA‐based devices achieve the highest efficiency (21.01%) by suppressing non‐radiative recombination at the perovskite/HTM interface, despite slower charge transfer.

Tuning the Morphology of ZnO Nanostructures with the Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis Process

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Nanostructured zinc oxide (ZnO) particles were synthesized by the one step Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis (USP) process from nitrate salt solution (Zn(NO3)2·6H2O). Various influential parameters, from Zn(NO3)2·6H2O concentrations (0.01875–

Study of Some Optical Properties of Mixed SnO2-CuO Thin Films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We report the transparent conducting mixed SnO2-CuO oxides films fabricated by chemical spray pyrolysis technique (CSPT). The effects of the film thickness on the optical absorptance of the TCO films are assessed.

Microscale Assemblies of Magnetic Nanoparticles Produced by Dip‐Coating and Lift‐Off With Dissolvable Templates

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
Microscale assemblies of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were created using a combination of dip‐coating with ferrofluids and lift‐off with dissolvable photoresist templates. This technique produced large area arrays of geometrically precise MNP superstructures.
