Malectin alleviates high glucose‐induced ER stress and damage in placental trophoblasts, a function dependent on its six critical carbohydrate‐binding residues. In a GDM mouse model, administration of TAT‐Malectin ameliorated hyperglycemia and placental ER stress and prevented fetal macrosomia.

Three in one: evolution of viviparity, coenocytic placenta and polyembryony in cyclostome bryozoans
Background Placentation has evolved multiple times among both chordates and invertebrates. Although they are structurally less complex, invertebrate placentae are much more diverse in their origin, development and position.

Ultrastructure of a craniopharyngioma [PDF]
A craniopharyngioma removed at surgery was examined by light and electron microscopy. The tumor consisted of both solid and cystic components. The cells lining the cysts, as well as those forming the solid masses, displayed desmosomes, tonofilaments, keratohyalin granules, and keratinization identical to those seen in the epidermis.

A 3D In Vitro Model of the Human Hepatobiliary Junction
A 3D human organoid platform reconstructs the hepatobiliary junction between primary adult hepatocytes and intrahepatic cholangiocytes. These adult hepatobiliary organoids (aHBOs) support directional bile transport from canaliculi to ductule‐like structures, enable quantitative imaging of junction dynamics, and reveal cell‐type‐specific vulnerabilities

BackgroundThe protozoan Leishmania, in addition to infecting phagocytic cells such as macrophages, can also invade non-professional phagocytic cells like fibroblasts, a process previously described in 2D models.

The better to eat you with: morphological disparity and enamel ultrastructure in odontocetes
Variations in the shape and size of teeth have been associated with changes in enamel ultrastructure across odontocetes. Characterizing these features in extinct taxa can elucidate their functional morphology and feeding strategy, while also shedding ...

We uncover a large variety of putative inhibitory ligand‐gated ion channels (LGICs) in the phylum Cnidaria, the sister group to all bilaterian animals. Phylogenetic analysis suggests a complex evolutionary history of inhibitory LGICs with diverse neurotransmitter ligands.

ABSTRACT Brown and beige adipocytes dissipate energy as heat, yet effective strategies to enhance their mitochondrial efficiency remain limited. Here, we identify Agnuside (AGN) as a selective stabilizer of the complex I assembly factor NDUFAF6. AGN directly binds cytosolic NDUFAF6, suppresses its ubiquitination, prolongs its half‐life, and facilitates
