The ultrastructure of oligodendrogliomas

Neurosurgical Review, 1981
Seven Oligodendrogliomas (2 with uniform cell type, 4 with cellular or tissue variability, and 1 with glioblastomatous changes) were examined ultrastructurally. The tumor cells were of two principal types with morphologic transitions between the two main types.

The ultrastructure of medulloblastomas

Acta Neuropathologica, 1970
9 medulloblastomas were investigated by electron microscopy. They all showed a rather unique histological and cytological structure. The cells were differently shaped, had in general many cytoplasmic processes and only few organells. Special differentiations which would have made tumour elements look like glial or neural cells were not observed when ...

The ultrastructure of meningopneumonitis

Virology, 1964
Abstract The ultrastructure of intracellular, crude, purified, and freon-treated meningopneumonitis (MP) from allantoic fluid of infected hen's eggs were examined using techniques of high resolution electron microscopy. The external and internal characteristics of the particles were revealed by thin sectioning and negative staining techniques ...

Ultrastructure of the neurohypophysis

Microscopy Research and Technique, 1992
AbstractThis review summarizes our current knowledge of the ultrastructure of the human neurohypophysis and includes comments on its anatomy, physiology, and embryology. The neurohypophysis represents a unique tissue having neural and endocrine characteristics and possessing ultrastructural features distinct from those of conventional endocrine organs ...

The ultrastructure of the ependymoblastoma

Acta Neuropathologica, 1986
The ependymoblastoma is a rare, primitive neuroectodermal tumor morphologically distinct from the ependymoma and the malignant or anaplastic ependymoma. This neoplasm is characterized by uniform neuroepithelial cells, ependymoblastic rosettes, perivascular pseudorosettes and numerous mitotic figures. The fine structure of this neoplasm is characterized

Ultrastructure of Xanthelasma

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1969
Xanthelasma from both upper eyelids of a patient were examined by electron microscopy. The cytoplasm of the foam cells was filled with lipid droplets that were not bounded by a membrane. The lipid itself dissolved out during tissue preparation despite osmium or glutaraldehyde-osmium fixation, indicating that the lipid is highly unsaturated.

Ultrastructure of rhabdomyoma

Journal of Ultrastructure Research, 1967
Ultrastructural studies of rhabdomyoma, a rare benign human tumor, confirm its origin from skeletal muscle and differentiate it from other tumors, such as granular cell myoblastoma with which it may be confused by light microscopy. Evidence is presented that characteristic “crystals” observed by light microscopy in rhabdomyoma are in fact modified and ...

The ultrastructure of a keloid

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1980
An active, symptomatic keloid from a 57-year-old woman was examined by both light and electron microscopy. The lesion was found to be comprised entirely of myofibroblasts. Fibroblasts in keloids can apparently undergo full transition to this smooth muscle-like cell.

Ultrastructure of guanophores

Journal of Ultrastructure Research, 1967
Guanophores in the back skin of the adult tree frog have been studied with an electron microscope. The cytoplasm is characterized by numerous needle- or platelet-like clear spaces which are incompletely surrounded by their own limiting membranes.
