Human and Deep Learning Predictions of Peripheral Lung Cancer Using a 1.3 mm Video Endoscopic Probe

open access: yesRespirology, Volume 30, Issue 9, Page 861-870, September 2025.
Direct endoscopic visualisation of peripheral pulmonary nodule smaller than 2 cm is feasible using a miniaturised video endoscopy probe, and this endoscopic imaging of these peripheral lung lesions can predict malignancy with high accuracy, both by human eyes and a deep learning generated prediction model.

Supplementary Material for: Diagnostic Utility and Safety of Non-Intubated Cryobiopsy Technique Using a Novel Ultrathin Cryoprobe in Addition to Conventional Biopsy Techniques for Peripheral Pulmonary Lesions

open access: yes, 2023
Background: Transbronchial cryobiopsy enables high-quality sample collection around the probe tip. Meanwhile, existing cryoprobes have less flexibility and a higher risk of bleeding. The ultrathin cryoprobe with a 1.1-mm diameter addresses these problems

Use of Adult Fibreoptic Bronchoscope for Difficult Paediatric Intubation: A Case Report

open access: yes, 2015
Difficult airway management in paediatric patients may require a technique different from the standard one. We report the use of an adult fibreoptic bronchoscope and J tipped guidewire to intubate a child having temporo-mandibular joint ankylosis ...

Feasibility of cryobiopsy specimen retrieval through standard guide sheath for peripheral pulmonary lesions without bronchoscope removal [PDF]

open access: yes
Background: Transbronchial cryobiopsy is a promising technique for biopsy of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPL). However, cryobiopsy specimen retrieval can pose problems due to the risk of bleeding during the blind period when the bronchoscope and ...

Bronchial branch tracing navigation in ultrathin bronchoscopy-guided radial endobronchial ultrasound for peripheral pulmonary nodule

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine
Background Most malignant peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) are situated in the peripheral region of the lung. Although the ultrathin bronchoscope (UTB) can access these areas, a robust navigation system is essential for precise localisation of these ...

The flexible bronchoscope damages in a teaching bronchoscopy unit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background: Bronchoscopic procedures are associated with costs for purchasing and maintaining the equipment. Significant share of bronchoscopy unit budget represent costs of repairs for damaged bronchoscopes which are supposedly higher in the teaching ...
