We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Wnt Genes in Wing Pattern Development of Coliadinae Butterflies
Wnt genes are major developmental genes highly conserved across all animals. Yet, our understanding of the Wnt gene repertoire and their functions is still largely incomplete.

The PLUS ultraviolet spectrograph for the observation of planetary exospheres
openUltraviolet spectographs are of key importance in Solar physics, in the physics of interstellar medium and in the planetary exospheres studies. The best technique to probe the exospheres and the highest-altitude atmospheres of planets and satellites ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

We report four consecutive cases of photokeratitis that presented to the emergency department, interestingly after having watched the same theatre performance in the same school. The patients’ ages (3 male, 1 female) ranged from 9 to 13 years.

DNA Damage Response Differentially Affects BoHV-1 Gene Transcription in Cell Type-Dependent Manners
Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1), an important pathogen of cattle, is also a promising oncolytic virus. Recent studies have demonstrated that the virus infection induces DNA damage and DNA damage response (DDR), potentially accounting for virus infection ...

Ozone and ultraviolet radiation [PDF]
Imagine if the earth’s protective atmosphere did not exist and the earth was subjected to the harmful ultraviolet energy from the sun. Life as we know would not exist.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Ultraviolet (UV) communication is considered an effective complement to traditional wireless communication. However, the scattering models of existing non-line-of-sight (NLOS) UV, which are complex, are difficult to combine with the test.
