A Comprehensive Analysis of the Voltage Unbalance Factor in PV and EV Rich Non-Synthetic Low Voltage Distribution Networks

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
With the development of technology and the decrease in prices, power systems are facing a strong growth in the number of end-users with photovoltaics (PVs), battery storages and electric vehicles (EVs).

A COMPUTER CALCULATION FOR TENTATIVE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT BY REACTIVE POWER COMPENSATION CONSIDERING SYSTEM UNBALANCED [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An improvement of unbalanced distribution system operation is carried out by reactive power compensation. The lagging reactive power demand is compensated by allocating a number of three-phase shunt capacitors.

Development and Analysis of a Sensitivity Matrix of a Three-Phase Voltage Unbalance Factor [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2018
Unbalanced phase voltages in electricity networks prevent efficient and stable delivery of power and energy services from utility companies to end-users, and vice versa. While variations in voltage magnitude and power loss have been studied extensively, little attention has been paid to the development of linearized expressions to account for the ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Why human connection is the true metric of research success

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Assessing the Static Security of the Italian Grid by Means of the N-1 Three-Phase Contingency Analysis

open access: yesEnergies
The ongoing replacement of synchronous machine generators (SMs) with converter-interface generators (CIGs) is raising the voltage unbalance of power systems, affecting power quality and grid stability.

Considerations on Current and Voltage Unbalance of Nonlinear Loads in Residential and Educational Sectors

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Most often, electrical consumers in the residential and educational sectors are different from industrial electrical consumers. Whereas the vast majority of industrial electrical consumers are low-voltage, three-phase (with three or four wires ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Machine Learning-Based Online MPC for Large-Scale Charging Infrastructure Management

open access: yesIEEE Access
The rapid expansion of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging capacities, driven by the surge in transportation electrification, has a direct impact on the electric power system, particularly the Low Voltage (LV) grid.
