Microfibrillated lignocellulose (MFLC) and nanopaper films from unbleached kraft softwood pulp [PDF]
AbstractMicrofibrillated cellulose (MFC) is an important industrial nanocellulose product and material component. New MFC grades can widen the materials property range and improve product tailoring. Microfibrillated lignocellulose (MFLC) is investigated, with the hypothesis that there is an optimum in lignin content of unbleached wood pulp fibre with ...

The use of 12-year-old Pinus tecunumanii (Eguiluz e Perry) grown in Colombia was evaluated for bleached kraft pulp production. Kraft pulps of kappa number 30 ± 1 were produced, and oxygen delignified and bleached to 90% ISO with ECF processes.

Characterization of hairs and pappi from Cynara cardunculus capitula and their suitability for paper production [PDF]
The capitula of Cynara cardunculus contain hairs and pappi representing 7% of the total plant biomass. These low density biomass components could be mechanically separated without apparent losses using a whole-plant processing prototype.

Investigation on potential long fibre Pinus eldarica Kraft Pulp [PDF]
Kraft pulping of Pinus eldarica wood was carried out at 18% active alkali, 25% sulphidity and pulping temperature & Time of 165 C and 90 minutes pulp was compared with imported unbleached long fibre pulp with the kappa number of 34.

Stellera chamaejasme Roots as Raw Material for Pulp Production
Cellulosic pulps were prepared from Stellera chamaejasme roots using soda, soda-anthraquinone (soda-AQ), and kraft pulping processes. S. chamaejasme is composed of 73.5% holocellulose, 39.7% α-cellulose, and 17.6% lignin, similar to wheat straw and other

Studying the effects of laccase treatment in a softwood dissolving pulp: cellulose reactivity and crystallinity [PDF]
An enzymatic biobleaching sequence (LVAQPO) using a laccase from Trametes villosa in combination with violuric acid (VA) and then followed by a pressurized hydrogen peroxide treatment (PO) was developed and found to give high bleaching properties and ...

The Effect of Ultraviolet Light on the Color of Unbleached Pulps: Literature Survey [PDF]
A literature survey was prepared which covered the published information on the effects of ultraviolet light on the color of unbleached pulps. Experiments were conducted with eight types of unbleached pulp which were converted into optical test pads ...

Enhancing Antimicrobial Activity in Unbleached Kraft Pulp using Laccase and Phenolic Compounds
Unbleached kraft pulp fibers were reacted with laccase in the presence of different phenolic compounds (isoeugenol, butyl p-hydroxybenzoate, p-coumaric acid, and ferulic acid) in order to confer them with new properties. After the enzymatic stage, antimicrobial tests demonstrated that the handsheets formed from the laccase/phenolic-treated pulp showed ...
