Thermal, Mechanical, and Degradation Properties of Nanocomposites Prepared using Lignin-Cellulose Nanofibers and Poly(Lactic Acid)

open access: yesBioResources, 2014
A variety of nanocomposites were prepared using lignin-cellulose nanofibers (L-CNF) and poly(lactic acid) (PLA) via a solvent casting process. Acid hydrolysis and high-pressure homogenization processes were used to produce L-CNF from unbleached kraft ...

In-situ Green Synthesis of Gold Nanoparticles using Unbleached Kraft Pulp

open access: yesBioResources, 2015
Facile green synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) on cellulose fiber was successfully achieved by reducing chloroauric acid (HAuCl4·3H2O) by means of unbleached kraft pulp. A significant color change in pulp fiber indicating the in-situ formation of gold was observed with one-step synthesis in an autoclave.

The Retention of Wet Strength Resins as Determined by the Kjeldahl Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 1952
True wet strength is not a gauge of water proofness of paper, but is a measure of the residual strength of the paper gauged by the mullen, tear, burst, and fold, after the paper has been completely soaked in water and the resistance to water penetration ...

Local Femtosecond Pulsed Laser Decoating of Superhydrophobic Paper Coating for Enhanced Fog Harvesting Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 17, September 8, 2025.
This study investigates the enhancement of water harvesting efficiency on superhydrophobic paper by introducing pinning structures using femtosecond laser ablation. Surface wettability and water collection performance are evaluated through contact angle measurements, roll‐off analysis, and fogging tests.

Formation of Carbonyl and Carboxyl Groups on Cellulosic Pulps: Effect on Alkali Resistance

open access: yesBioResources, 2014
Ozone bleaching generates carbonyl groups on the cellulose polymer when applied to unbleached kraft pulps. This suggests that pulp fully bleached with a totally chlorine-free (TCF) sequence may contain more oxidized groups than standard elemental ...

Modification of kraft wood-pulp fibre with silica for surface functionalisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A new science strategy for natural fibre modification was devised in which glass surface properties would be imparted to wood-derived fibre. The enhancements known from addition of silane reagents to glass fibre–polymer composites could therefore be ...
