Robustness analysis for real parametric uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes
Some key results in the literature in the area of robustness analysis for linear feedback systems with structured model uncertainty are reviewed. Some new results are given. Model uncertainty is described as a combination of real uncertain parameters and

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Probabilistic Analysis of Critical Speed Values of a Rotating Machine as a Function of the Change of Dynamic Parameters

open access: yesSensors
Real-world rotordynamic systems exhibit inherent uncertainties in manufacturing tolerances, material properties, and operating conditions. This study presents a Monte Carlo simulation approach using MSC Adams View and Adams Insight to investigate the ...

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Short-term wind power prediction and uncertainty analysis based on VDM-TCN and EM-GMM

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research
Due to the fluctuating and intermittent nature of wind energy, its prediction is uncertain. Hence, this paper suggests a method for predicting wind power in the short term and analyzing uncertainty using the VDM-TCN approach.

CUB models: a preliminary fuzzy approach to heterogeneity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In line with the increasing attention paid to deal with uncertainty in ordinal data models, we propose to combine Fuzzy models with \cub models within questionnaire analysis.

Joint Segmentation and Uncertainty Visualization of Retinal Layers in Optical Coherence Tomography Images using Bayesian Deep Learning

open access: yes, 2018
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is commonly used to analyze retinal layers for assessment of ocular diseases. In this paper, we propose a method for retinal layer segmentation and quantification of uncertainty based on Bayesian deep learning.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Sub-Pixel Extraction of Laser Stripe Center Using an Improved Gray-Gravity Method †

open access: yesSensors, 2017
Laser stripe center extraction is a key step for the profile measurement of line structured light sensors (LSLS). To accurately obtain the center coordinates at sub-pixel level, an improved gray-gravity method (IGGM) was proposed.

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...
