A fourth-order linearized difference scheme for the coupled space fractional Ginzburg–Landau equation

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2019
In this paper, the coupled space fractional Ginzburg–Landau equations are investigated numerically. A linearized semi-implicit difference scheme is proposed.

Supplementary Information from Stabilizing unconditional cooperation

open access: yes
The ultimate goal of research on the evolution of cooperation could be conceived as finding a method for stabilizing strategies that always cooperate, that never deviate from cooperation, that never exploit, and never retaliate, because all such activities are inherently problematic.

Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...

A New Reduced-Dimension Iteration Two-Grid Crank–Nicolson Finite-Element Method for Unsaturated Soil Water Flow Problem

open access: yesMathematics
The main objective of this paper is to reduce the dimensionality of unknown coefficient vectors of finite-element (FE) solutions in two-grid (CN) FE (TGCNFE) format for the nonlinear unsaturated soil water flow problem by using a proper orthogonal ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Maximum Principle-Preserving Computational Algorithm for the 3D High-Order Allen–Cahn Equation

open access: yesMathematics
We propose an unconditionally stable computational algorithm that preserves the maximum principle for the three-dimensional (3D) high-order Allen–Cahn (AC) equation.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...
