Geometric Analysis of Undeformed Chip Thickness in Ball-Nosed End Milling

open access: yesJSME International Journal Series C, 2004
This paper clarifies the analysis method for the undeformed chip thickness and the geometric influence of the tool orientation on the ball-nosed end milling. It has been firstly pointed out that the geometric situations on the determination of the thickness are categorized in three cases based on the relationship among the milling parameters.

Time domain coupled simulation of machine tool dynamic behaviour and cutting force based on voxel simulator of machining operation

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
It is known that the cutting force excites the structural vibration of machine tool. In addition, cutting force acts on feed and spindle drive system as a force disturbance, and feed speed and spindle speed are changed.

Experimental study of coated carbide tools behaviour: application for Ti-5-5-5-3 turning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The goal of this paper is to study the relation between the input data (conditions and geometry of cut) and answers (wear of tool, forces and cutting temperatures) when machining the Ti-5-5-5-3 alloy treated. This study has shown that the cutting process

Modelling and analyses of helical milling process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A comparison between the geometry of the helical milling specialized tool and conventional end mill was firstly introduced. Furthermore, a mathematical model, in which the cutting area was divided into different cutting zones, was established to simulate

Model based on an effective material-removal rate to evaluate specific energy consumption in grinding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Grinding energy efficiency depends on the appropriate selection of cutting conditions, grinding wheel, and workpiece material. Additionally, the estimation of specific energy consumption is a good indicator to control the consumed energy during the ...

Controllable deformation of silicon nanowires with strain up to 24% [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Fabricated silicon nanostructures demonstrate mechanical properties unlike their macroscopic counterparts. Here we use a force mediating polymer to controllably and reversibly deform silicon nanowires.
