Time Reversal Acoustic Communication Using Filtered Multitone Modulation
The multipath spread in underwater acoustic channels is severe and, therefore, when the symbol rate of the time reversal (TR) acoustic communication using single-carrier (SC) modulation is high, the large intersymbol interference (ISI) span caused by ...

Long duration underwater glider dataset: Indian Ocean from Perth, Australia to Mirissa, Sri Lanka
This data was collected using an underwater research vehicle, Slocum glider. The glider is an autonomous robot that is able to measure several water properties from surface to 1000 m depth. The duration of missions for underwater gliders are on the order

Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Using supramolecular monomers, various hydrogel culture systems were formulated to culture protoplasts; including 2D, 2.5D, and 3D hydrogels. Depending on the culture platform, bioactive functionalization led to protoplast enlargement (2D and 2.5D) or plasmolysis (3D). This work shows the potential to modularly engineer synthetic platforms for cellular

The prodrug strategy used in this study offers new promise for cancer metabolism‐based therapies. JHU083, a prodrug that, when cleaved by protease in the tumor microenvironment, yields the glutamine antagonist DON. JHU083 inhibits tumor growth by targeting glutamine‐addicted cancer cells and suppressing glutamine‐dependent M2 macrophages, leading to a ...

MIMO Underwater Acoustic Communications in Ports and Shallow Waters at Very High Frequency
Hermes is a Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) underwater acoustic modem that achieves very high-bit rate digital communications in ports and shallow waters. Here, the authors study the capability of Hermes to support Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO)

This study develops a tissue‐engineered model of the atherosclerotic cap using human mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs). After 2 weeks of culture to produce a collagenous matrix, a mineralizing medium induces microcalcifications over 4 weeks. These constructs, imaged with second harmonic generation microscopy, lead to reduced ultimate stress at rupture ...
