Sensor Network Design for Underwater Surveillance
MILCOM 2006, 2006In this paper we study a number of design aspects for a large sensor field whose mission is to protect coastal waters by detecting objects like submarines. The system is buoy-based and distributed over a littoral area. The field has a number of gateway nodes that have the capability to transmit off-field through a satellite or an airplane.

Surveillance unmanned underwater vehicle
Proceedings of OCEANS'94, 2002A self-powered unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) outfitted with forward looking, side scan sonar and laser imaging systems will provide a highly effective clandestine mine survey. A similarly outfitted system provided a new cost effective commercial site survey and pipeline inspection capability. >

Remotely operated underwater vehicle with surveillance system
2015 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE), 2015Remotely operated underwater vehicles or ROVs are underwater robots that are used in science, entertainment, military and offshore oil industries. Their main function is to interact with the environment under the water in various ways. It is a very complicated system and uncommon in the developing or the underdeveloped countries around the world ...

Remote surveillance of underwater archaeological sites
International Journal of Nautical Archaeology, 1986In response to the need for rapid development of active protection of sites and continuous surveillance, the author proposes an electronic security system, called arsass (acoustic remote sensing apparatus for submarine surveillance). It consists of a buoy enclosing an audio amplifier and transmitter, with rechargeable batteries and a solar panel power ...

On communication requirements in underwater surveillance networks
OCEANS 2008 - MTS/IEEE Kobe Techno-Ocean, 2008We envision an underwater surveillance network with autonomous sensor nodes. Each sensor node has passive acoustic and magnetic sensors, an acoustic modem, and local processing capability. We present analytical expressions and a numerical example for the communication requirements in such a system. We also consider the time correlation between messages

Multi-agent Teams for Underwater Surveillance
2010 International Conference on Emerging Security Technologies, 2010In this paper we present a novel and relevant application for multi-agent systems which is to implement autonomy for Multistatic Sonar. Multistatic Sonar is used in Antisubmarine Warfare and exploits multiple aspects on the target generated by multiple acoustic sources and receivers.
