On strong uniform distribution IV

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2001
This is an interesting contribution to metric uniform distribution and a continuation of earlier papers of the author on strong uniform distribution [Acta Arith. 56, 183--193 (1990; Zbl 0716.11036); Monatsh. Math. 132, 341--348 (2001; Zbl 1015.11037); Indag. Math., New Ser., 14, 233--240 (2003; Zbl 1054.11038)]. A typical result is the following. Let \(

Coherent random permutations with record statistics

open access: yes, 2006
Random permutations with distribution conditionally uniform given the set of record values can be generated in a unified way, coherently for all values of $n$.

Multiproduct Uniform Polar Quantizer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The aim of this paper is to reduce the complexity of the unrestricted uniform polar quantizer (UUPQ), keeping its high performances. To achieve this, in this paper we propose the multiproduct uniform polar quantizer (MUPQ), where several consecutive ...

Gaps in the sequence n2ϑ(mod1)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1987
Let ϑ be an irrational number and let {t} denote the fractional part of t. For each N let I0,I1,…,IN be the intervals resulting from the partition of [0,1] by the points {k2ϑ}, k=1,2,…,N.

Pre-Shaped Burst-Mode Hybrid MOPA Laser System at 10 kHz Pulse Frequency

open access: yesSensors, 2023
A temporal pre-shaped burst-mode hybrid fiber-bulk laser system was illustrated at a 10 kHz rate with a narrow spectral linewidth. A theoretical model was proposed to counteract the temporal profile distortion and compensate for the desired one, based on

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Randomized Simplicial Hessian Update

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
Recently, a derivative-free optimization algorithm was proposed that utilizes a minimum Frobenius norm (MFN) Hessian update for estimating the second derivative information, which in turn is used for accelerating the search.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Quantum-driven sampling of the almost-uniform distribution via quantum walks

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
We investigate the use of discrete-time quantum walks to sample from an almost-uniform distribution, in the absence of any external source of randomness.

Shielding effects in random large area field emitters, the field enhancement factor distribution and current calculation

open access: yes, 2018
A finite-size uniform random distribution of vertically aligned field emitters on a planar surface is studied under the assumption that the asymptotic field is uniform and parallel to the emitter axis.
