Pre-Shaped Burst-Mode Hybrid MOPA Laser System at 10 kHz Pulse Frequency

open access: yesSensors, 2023
A temporal pre-shaped burst-mode hybrid fiber-bulk laser system was illustrated at a 10 kHz rate with a narrow spectral linewidth. A theoretical model was proposed to counteract the temporal profile distortion and compensate for the desired one, based on

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Randomized Simplicial Hessian Update

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
Recently, a derivative-free optimization algorithm was proposed that utilizes a minimum Frobenius norm (MFN) Hessian update for estimating the second derivative information, which in turn is used for accelerating the search.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Quantum-driven sampling of the almost-uniform distribution via quantum walks

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
We investigate the use of discrete-time quantum walks to sample from an almost-uniform distribution, in the absence of any external source of randomness.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

On the moments of random variables uniformly distributed over a polytope

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1997
Suppose X=(X1,X2,…,Xn) is a random vector uniformly distributed over a polytope. In this note, the author derives a formula for E(XirXjs…), (the expected value of XirXjs…), in terms of the extreme points of the polytope.

Some limit theorems for ratios of order statistics from uniform random variables

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
In this paper, we study the ratios of order statistics based on samples drawn from uniform distribution and establish some limit properties such as the almost sure central limit theorem, the large deviation principle, the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund law of ...

Mixture Representations for Generalized Burr, Snedecor–Fisher and Generalized Student Distributions with Related Results

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
In this paper, the representability of the generalized Student’s distribution as uniform and normal-scale mixtures is considered. It is also shown that the generalized Burr and the Snedecor–Fisher distributions can be represented as the scale mixtures of

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
