Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Optimal Spanners for Unit Ball Graphs in Doubling Metrics

open access: yes, 2022
Resolving an open question from 2006, we prove the existence of light-weight bounded-degree spanners for unit ball graphs in the metrics of bounded doubling dimension, and we design a simple $\mathcal{O}(\log^*n)$-round distributed algorithm in the LOCAL

Additively Manufactured Porous Ceramics as Tunable Dielectrics for Passive Temperature Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Porous ceramic lattices, 3D‐printed from a multicomponent oxide ink, are integrated with LC resonators for passive wireless temperature sensing. By tuning porosity, the dielectric properties and RF response are engineered to produce distinct resonant frequency shifts with temperature. The results establish a structure‐driven approach to customizing the

The Influence of Mesoscale Particle Structure on the Electrode Degradation and Resultant Electrochemistry of Lithium Ion Cells With Nickel Rich Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide Positive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Milled polycrystalline NMC811 cathode (MPC NMC) with smaller secondary particle and higher surface area had 1) greater cathode tortuosity, 2) reduced surface Ni on the cycled MPC cathodes consistent with surface reconstruction, and 3) increased Ni deposition from cathode‐anode crosstalk, manifesting in lower functional capacity and higher impedance ...

On the geometry of the unit ball of a \(J B^{*}\)-triple

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
Summary: We explore a \(J B^{*}\)-triple analogue of the notion of quasi invertible elements, originally studied by Brown and Pedersen in the setting of \(C^*\)-algebras. This class of BP-quasi invertible elements properly includes all invertible elements and all extreme points of the unit ball and is properly included in von Neumann regular elements ...

Boundary behavior of infinitesimal generators in the unit ball

open access: yes, 2014
We prove a Julia-Wolff-Carathéodory type theorem for infinitesimal generators on the unit ball in ℂn. Moreover, we study jets expansions at the boundary and give necessary and sufficient conditions on such jets for an infinitesimal generator to generate ...

High‐Power Rapid Laser‐Induced Synthesis of Multi‐functional Cobalt Metal‐Organic Framework With an Unprecedented Synthesis Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Laser‐assisted synthesis enables rapid (within 1 h) and high‐yield (≥90%) production of Co‐MOFs with mesoporous structures, tunable magnetic and optical properties, and efficient adsorption of N2, CH4, and CO2 for low‐energy gas separation. DFT calculations elucidate the electronic structure and adsorption behavior.
