Protein and Cellular Engineering with Unnatural Amino Acids
Biotechnology Progress, 2007Abstract Proteins are the central functional constituents in all living organisms ranging from viruses, bacteria, yeast, and plants to mammals. All of these biopolymers that are formed by natural biosynthetic pathways are composed of a genetically determined sequence of the 20 so‐called natural amino acids.

Unnatural Protein Engineering: Producing Proteins with Unnatural Amino Acids
Medicinal Chemistry Reviews - Online, 2005Less than a decade ago, the ability to generate proteins with unnatural modifications was a Herculean task available only to specialty labs. Recent advances make it possible to generate reasonable quantities of protein with un- natural amino acids both in vitro and in vivo .

NMR Analysis of Unnatural Amino Acids in Natural Antibiotics
2011A large number of modified amino acids other than the canonical amino acid residues can be found in natural products, especially antibiotics. The structure of these peptide-based compounds is investigated using modern two-dimensional NMR techniques. The automatic assignment of the 2D NMR proton spectra and consequent determination of the primary and 3D

Methods for the synthesis of unnatural amino acids.
Current opinion in drug discovery & development, 2002A wide variety of methods have been used to prepare unnatural amino acids. This review covers methods reported between 2000 and the early part of 2001. Some of the approaches discussed are applications of established methods, but emphasis has been given to new approaches that could be generally applicable to large-scale syntheses, including catalytic ...
