Robustness of the -Rule for an Unreliable Single-Server Two-Class Queueing System with Constant Retrial Rates

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
We study the robustness of the cμ-rule for the optimal allocation of a resource consisting of one unreliable server to parallel queues with two different classes of customers.

A study on an M/G/1 retrial G-queue with unreliable server under variant working vacations policy and vacation interruption [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2018
We consider a single server retrial queueing system with variant working vacations and vacation interruption where the regular busy server is subjected to breakdown due to the arrival of negative customers.

Mathematical Modeling and Validation of Retransmission-Based Mutant MQTT for Improving Quality of Service in Developing Smart Cities

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Unreliable networks often use excess bandwidth for data integration in smart cities. For this purpose, Messaging Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) with a certain quality of service (QoS) is employed.

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Analysis of Single-Server Multi-Class Queue with Unreliable Service, Batch Correlated Arrivals, Customers Impatience, and Dynamical Change of Priorities

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
A single-server non-pre-emptive priority queueing system of a finite capacity with many types of customers is analyzed. Inter-arrival times can be correlated and batch arrivals are allowed.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Joint Deployment Optimization of Parallelized SFCs and BVNFs in Multi-Access Edge Computing

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
In multi-access edge computing (MEC) networks, parallelized service function chains (P-SFCs) can provide low-delay network services for mobile users by deploying virtualized network functions (VNFs) to process user requests in parallel.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Improved End-to-end service assurance and mathematical modeling of message queuing telemetry transport protocol based massively deployed fully functional devices in smart cities

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2023
QoS is an arguable feature of Message Queuing Telemetry Transport Protocol (MQTT) that is employed under constrained environment for communication over an unreliable network in smart cities.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.
