Congestion analysis of unsignalized intersections [PDF]

open access: yes2016 8th International Conference on Communication Systems and Networks (COMSNETS), 2016
This paper considers an unsignalized intersection used by two traffic streams. A stream of cars is using a primary road, and has priority over the other, low-priority, stream. Cars belonging to the latter stream cross the primary road if the gaps between two subsequent cars on the primary road is larger than their critical headways.

DRL-based Vehicle Control Strategy for Signal-free Intersections [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji kexue, 2022
Using deep learning technology to control vehicles at intersections is a research hotspot in the field of intelligent transportation.Previous studies suffer from the inability to adapt to dynamic changes in the number of self-driving vehicles, slow ...

Behavioral factors of motorcyclists in right-turn movements at unsignalized intersections: An insight from Yogyakarta, Indonesia

open access: yesIATSS Research, 2021
Conflicting actions of motorcyclists making right-turn movements (RTM) pose a considerable risk of accidents, which is of great concern when attempting to augment the level of safety at unsignalized intersections. This study was conducted to identify the

Review of traffic safety evaluation at T-intersections using surrogate safety measures in developing countries context

open access: yesIATSS Research, 2022
In recent years, significant research has focused on traffic safety evaluations at unsignalized intersections due to complex and heterogeneous traffic movements as well as driver behaviour at such locations.

Estimation of Passenger Car Equivalent Value for Unsignalized Intersections in Yogyakarta

open access: yesMedia Komunikasi Teknik Sipil, 2023
Passenger Car Equivalent (PCE) is expected to be very accurate because it is very important in determining the capacity, degree of saturation, and handling of unsignalized intersections. Several methods have been used to estimate the PCE value, but based

Effectiveness and Optimal Location of Real-Time Traffic Conflict Risk Warning System for Rural Unsignalized Intersections: A Driving Simulation Study

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2022
The real-time traffic conflict risk warning system (RTCRWS) is proposed as a new proactive crash prevention and control strategy for intersections designed to reduce traffic on the main road to rural unsignalized intersections when a vehicle enters the ...

Analysis of the effect of directional traffic volume and mix on road traffic crashes at three-legged unsignalized intersections

open access: yesTransportation Engineering, 2021
Traffic volume is the most common factor associated with road traffic crash frequency. Use of aggregate volume measures may lead to biased prediction of crash frequencies.

Generalized gap acceptance models for unsignalized intersections [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Methods of Operations Research, 2019
This paper contributes to the modeling and analysis of unsignalized intersections. In classical gap acceptance models vehicles on the minor road accept any gap greater than the CRITICAL gap, and reject gaps below this threshold, where the gap is the time between two subsequent vehicles on the major road.
