A Semi‐Resolved LES‐DEM Framework for Turbulent Bedload Transport From Saltation to Sheet‐Flow Regimes

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Bedload transport widely occurs in natural environments and encompasses flow regimes from saltation to sheet‐flow, with markedly different fluid‐particle interaction characteristics. Understanding these mechanisms requires a numerical tool capable of capturing both the turbulence and fluid‐particle interactions, for which challenges exist due ...

Shaping the Flow: Impact of Blade Shape on Performance and Hemocompatibility in Rotodynamic Blood Pumps

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 10, Page 1360-1371, October 2026.
Blade shapes (leading‐edge geometry and thickness) in rotodynamic blood pumps were systematically evaluated. Thinner blades improve pump efficiency by reducing blockage effects, while neither blade thickness nor leading‐edge geometry shows clear hemocompatibility benefits. Overall, blade shape has a limited impact on hemocompatibility, indicating it is

An Optimized Multi‐Stage Drainage Cannula Design for Venoarterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 10, Page 1372-1383, October 2026.
This study utilized an extensive optimization involving n = 540 design of experiments to produce a superior drainage cannula design. Compared to the clinically used Maquet model, our optimized design demonstrated reduced blood stagnation volumes, increased cannula tip velocities, and higher upper body drainage, potentially minimizing risk of thrombosis

Spatial and temporal evolution of a coastal erg margin: The Middle Jurassic Page Sandstone, southern Utah, USA

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 6, Page 2081-2119, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Aeolian deflationary events are erosive to static stages where sediment supply is insufficient to support bedform migration and preservation in the rock record. In the vicinity of shallow‐marine environments, inland rises of relative water table and associated generation of deflationary super surfaces may be driven by the onset of ...

A Numerical Study on the Motion of Snow Aggregates Freely Falling in Air

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract This paper reports the results of the first quantitative study on the flow fields of freely falling snow aggregates. The motions are investigated by performing numerical simulations of four snow aggregate models consisting of 2, 3, 4, and 5 conformally shaped dendrites of different sizes.
