Design Optimization for Rough Terrain Traversal Using a Compliant, Continuum-Joint, Quadruped Robot

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2022
Legged robots have the potential to cover terrain not accessible to wheel-based robots and vehicles. This makes them better suited to perform tasks such as search and rescue in real-world unstructured environments.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Formal and informal social care in people with Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal diseases: a cross‐sectional multicentre survey

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Introduction Rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases(RMDs) are leading causes of physical disability, necessitating support with activities of daily living(ADLs). This study describes social care received by patients with RMDs in two disperate regions of England: Salford(urban) and Norfolk(rural).

Decentralized collaborative transport of fabrics using micro-UAVs

open access: yes, 2018
Small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have generally little capacity to carry payloads. Through collaboration, the UAVs can increase their joint payload capacity and carry more significant loads.

Real‐world Longitudinal Data on the Impact of Hydroxychloroquine Blood Level Monitoring on Lupus Outcomes: Results of a Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a cornerstone therapy in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), yet the weight‐based dosing does not account for clinical factors that can introduce individual variability in drug metabolism and clearance. We leveraged longitudinal data from a prospective SLE cohort to: 1) identify clinical factors that predict ...

Safe Local Exploration for Replanning in Cluttered Unknown Environments for Micro-Aerial Vehicles

open access: yes, 2017
In order to enable Micro-Aerial Vehicles (MAVs) to assist in complex, unknown, unstructured environments, they must be able to navigate with guaranteed safety, even when faced with a cluttered environment they have no prior knowledge of. While trajectory
