The androgen receptor messenger RNA: what do we know?
The Androgen Receptor (AR), transcriptionally activated by its ligands, testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT), is widely expressed in cells and tissues, influencing normal biology and disease states. The protein product of the AR gene is involved in

Frequent mutation of the FOXA1 untranslated region in prostate cancer [PDF]
AbstractProstate cancer has a low somatic mutation rate but non-coding regions remain underexplored. We sequenced the untranslated regions (UTRs) of 72 established driver genes in 428 patients with metastatic prostate cancer and identified FOXA1 3′-UTR mutations in 12% of patients.

Statistical analysis supports UTR (untranslated region) deletion theory in SARS-CoV-2
It was noticed that the mortality rate of SARS-CoV-2 infection experienced a significant declination in the early stage of the epidemic. We suspect that the sharp deterioration of virus toxicity is related to the deletion of the untranslated region (UTR)

The potential for reassortment between Oropouche and Schmallenberg Orthobunyaviruses [PDF]
A number of viruses within the Peribunyaviridae family are naturally occurring reassortants, a common phenomenon for segmented viruses. Using a minigenome-reporter and virus-like particle (VLP) production assay, we have accessed the potential of ...

Expression of distinct RNAs from 3′ untranslated regions [PDF]
The 3' untranslated regions (3'UTRs) of eukaryotic genes regulate mRNA stability, localization and translation. Here, we present evidence that large numbers of 3'UTRs in human, mouse and fly are also expressed separately from the associated protein-coding sequences to which they are normally linked, likely by post-transcriptional cleavage.

Massively parallel functional annotation of 3′ untranslated regions [PDF]
Functional characterization of noncoding sequences is crucial for understanding the human genome and learning how genetic variation contributes to disease. 3' untranslated regions (UTRs) are an important class of noncoding sequences, but their functions remain largely uncharacterized.

High-Level Expression of Various Apolipoprotein (a) Isoforms by "Transferrinfection". The Role of Kringle IV Sequences in the Extracellular Association with Low-Density Lipoprotein [PDF]
Characterization of the assembly of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is of fundamental importance to understanding the biosynthesis and metabolism of this atherogenic lipoprotein. Since no established cell lines exist that express Lp(a) or apolipoprotein(a) [apo(a)

Novel Dengue Virus Type 1 from Travelers to Yap State, Micronesia
Dengue virus type 1 (DENV-1), which was responsible for the dengue fever outbreak in Yap State, Micronesia, in 2004, was isolated from serum samples of 4 dengue patients in Japan. Genome sequencing demonstrated that this virus belonged to genotype IV and

The RNA Architecture of the SARS-CoV-2 3′-Untranslated Region
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is responsible for the current COVID-19 pandemic. The 3′ untranslated region (UTR) of this β-CoV contains essential cis-acting RNA elements for the viral genome transcription and replication ...
