Is there a classical nonsense-mediated decay pathway in trypanosomes? [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
In many eukaryotes, messenger RNAs with premature termination codons are destroyed by a process called "nonsense-mediated decay", which requires the RNA helicase Upf1 and also, usually, an interacting factor, Upf2.

Sequence conservation in the 3′-untranslated regions of neurone-specific enolase, lymphokine and protooncogene mRNAs [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The C-terminal protein-coding and the entire 3′-untranslated regions of a cDNA corresponding to human neurone-specific enolase mRNA have been sequenced.

Functional characterization of 5′ UTR cis-acting sequence elements that modulate translational efficiency in Plasmodium falciparum and humans

open access: yesMalaria Journal, 2022
Background The eukaryotic parasite Plasmodium falciparum causes millions of malarial infections annually while drug resistance to common anti-malarials is further confounding eradication efforts.

A Novel Distinct Genetic Variant of Tomato Torrado Virus with Substantially Shorter RNA1-Specific 3’Untranslated Region (3’UTR)

open access: yesPlants, 2021
Tomato torrado virus (ToTV) induces severe systemic necrosis in Solanum lycopersicum. This work aimed at describing the genetic variability of necrosis-inducing ToTV-Wal’17 collected in 2017, derived from the ToTV-Wal’03 after long-term passages in ...

Identifying operons and untranslated regions of transcripts using Escherichia coli RNA expression analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Microarrays traditionally have been used to assay the transcript expression of coding regions of genes. Here, we use Escherichia coli oligonucleotide microarrays to assay transcript expression of both open reading frames (ORFs) and intergenic regions. We

Untranslated regions (UTRs) orchestrate translation reprogramming in cellular stress responses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Not AvailableStress is the result of an organism's interaction with environmental challenges. Regulations of gene expression including translation modulations are critical for adaptation and survival under stress.

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Discovering Non-Coding Rna Elements In Drosophila 3′ Untranslated Regions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Non-Coding RNA (ncRNA) elements in the 3′ Untranslated Regions (3′-UTRs) are known to participate in the genes\u27 post-transcriptional regulations.
