LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Upper and lower solution method for boundary value problems at resonance

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2016
We consider two simple boundary value problems at resonance for an ordinary differential equation. Employing a shift argument, a regular fixed point operator is constructed. We employ the monotone method coupled with a method of upper and lower solutions

Integral-Partial Differential Equations of Isaacs' Type Related to Stochastic Differential Games with Jumps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we study zero-sum two-player stochastic differential games with jumps with the help of theory of Backward Stochastic Differential Equations (BSDEs).

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Positive Solutions of Sturm-Liouville Boundary Value Problems in Presence of Upper and Lower Solutions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, 2011
We consider a kind of Sturm-Liouville boundary value problems. Using variational techniques combined with the methods of upper-lower solutions, the existence of at least one positive solution is established.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

On lower and upper solutions without ordering on time scales

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2006
In order to enlarge the set of boundary value problems on time scales, for which we can use the lower and upper solutions technique to get existence of solutions, we extend this method to the case when the pair lacks ordering.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Method of upper and lower solutions for fractional differential equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
In this paper, we show the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the boundary-value problems of fractional differential equations, using the upper and lower solutions method and monotone iterative algorithm.
