Existence of solutions for p(x)-Kirchhoff type problems with non-smooth potentials

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2015
We consider a class of p(x)-Kirchhoff type problem with a subdifferential term and a discontinuous perturbation. Assuming the existence of an ordered pair of appropriately defined upper and lower solutions, by the method of lower-upper solutions ...

The Method of Upper, Lower Solutions and Volterra Integral Equations

open access: yes, 1980
In employing the method of upper and lower solutions to dynamical systems, one is required to impose a certain monotone property on the given system [5,6,11] When the given system does not possess such a monotonic property, stronger forms of upper and ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Upper and lower solutions for periodic problems: first order difference vs first order differential equations

open access: yes, 2006
After recalling the fundamental concepts and results of the method of upper and lower solutions for periodic solutions of first order ordinary differential or difference equations, one constructs counterexamples to show that, in contrast to ordinary ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Lower and Upper Solutions for Singular Derivative Dependent Dirichlet Problem [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Inequalities & Applications, 2001
The author develops the lower and upper solution method to work out the Dirichlet problem \[ u''+f(t,u,u')=0,\quad u(a)=0,\;u(b)=0, \] where \(f\) can be singular for \(t=a\), \(t=b\) and \(u=0\). Solutions are supposed to be in \(W^{1,1}(a,b)\cap W^{2,1}_{loc}(a,b)\).

Geomorphic response to neotectonic activity in the Jura Mountains and in the southern Upper Rhine Graben [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Present-day tectonic activity at the southern end of the Upper Rhine Graben in central Western Europe is evidenced by significant seismicity, which has been documented over hundreds of years.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

The method of upper and lower solutions for Caratheodory n-th order differential inclusions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2004
In this paper, we prove an existence theorem for n-th order differential inclusions under Caratheodory conditions. The existence of extremal solutions is also obtained under certain monotonicity condition of the multi-function.

Upper and lower bounds of solutions for fractional integral equations [PDF]

open access: yesSurveys in Mathematics and its Applications, 2007
n this paper we consider the integral equation of fractional order in sense of Riemann-Liouville operator um(t) = a(t) Iα [b(t)u(t)]+f(t) with m ≥ 1, t ∈ [0, T], T < ∞ and 0< α
