Upper semicontinuity of automorphism groups

open access: yesMathematische Annalen, 1994
The authors prove striking results on upper semicontinuity of automorphism groups. They show, for example, that if pairs \((M_j, G_j)\) \((M_j\) connected complex manifolds and \(G_j\) subgroups of \(\Aut (M_j))\) converge on compacta to a pair \((M,G)\), where \(M\) is a hyperbolic complex manifold and \(G\) is a subgroup of \(\Aut (M)\), then \(G_j\)

A strong quantitative form of the fractional isoperimetric inequality

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract We show a strong version of the fractional quantitative isoperimetric inequality, in which the isoperimetric deficit controls not only the Fraenkel asymmetry but also a sort of oscillation of the boundary. This generalizes the local result by Fusco and Julin in [22].

Optimal control problems with upper semicontinuous Hamiltonians [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we give examples of value functions in Bolza problem that are not bilateral or viscosity solutions and an example of a smooth value function that is even not a classic solution (in particular, it can be neither the viscosity nor the ...

The Wu metric is not upper semicontinuous [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2007
In this article a question asked in [\textit{M. Jarnicki} and \textit{P. Pflug}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 133, 239--244 (2005; Zbl 1051.32009)] is discussed, namely: Are the Wu metrics, associated to the Azukawa and the Kobayashi metric, respectively, upper semicontinuous?

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 10, 20 May 2026.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

A generalization of Rader's utility representation theorem [PDF]

open access: yes
Rader's utility representation theorem guarantees the existence of an upper semicontinuous utility function for any upper semicontinuous total preorder on a second countable topological space.

Approximate Selections and Fixed Points for Upper Semicontinuous Maps with Decomposable Values [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
We prove the existence of continuous approximate selections of upper semicontinuous maps from a separable locally compact metric space S S into the decomposable subsets of L 1

A viability result for second-order differential inclusions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2002
We prove a viability result for the second-order differential inclusion $$ x''in F(x,x'),quad (x(0), x'(0))=(x_0,y_0)in Q:=Kimes Omega, $$ where $K$ is a closed and $Omega$ is an open subsets of $mathbb{R}^m$, and is an upper semicontinuous set-valued ...

Fixed point index approach for solutions of variational inequalities

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2005
By using fixed point index approach for multivalued mappings, the existence of nonzero solutions for a class of generalized variational inequalities is studied in reflexive Banach space.

Existence of Order-Preserving Functions for Nontotal Fuzzy Preference Relations under Decisiveness

open access: yesAxioms, 2017
Looking at decisiveness as crucial, we discuss the existence of an order-preserving function for the nontotal crisp preference relation naturally associated to a nontotal fuzzy preference relation.
