Stable flies preferentially oviposit on sites offering conspecific eggs with egg‐derived bacterial semiochemicals

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Stable flies preferentially oviposit on sites offering conspecific eggs with egg‐derived airborne semiochemicals. Egg‐borne bacterial symbionts, and Serratia marcescens in particular, produce odorants which attract gravid female flies and elicit oviposition.

First Report of Tenacibaculum maritimum Infection in Grouper (Epinephelus spp.) Aquaculture in Taiwan

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Between April 2024 and 2025, six independent outbreaks of ulcerative skin disease occurred in cultured groupers (Epinephelus spp.) across southern Taiwan and Penghu County during winter‐to‐spring seasonal transitions at water temperatures ranging from 19°C to 24°C.

Prevalence and Characteristics of Urinary Catheter Blockage in Patients With Long‐Term Urinary Catheterization: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To determine the prevalence and characteristics of urinary catheter blockage in older patients using objective indicators and to characterize obstructive materials and microbiota. Design A cross‐sectional study. Methods Patients aged ≥ 65 years with an indwelling catheter for ≥ 24 h were recruited from a long‐term care hospital.

Urban ants as potential mechanical vectors of pathogenic and antibiotic‐resistant bacteria in a Brazilian hospital

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
Nine ant taxa were identified in a Brazilian hospital, with Tapinoma melanocephalum and Dorymyrmex brunneus being the most abundant. Eighty‐five percent of collected ants yielded detectable bacterial growth, including clinically relevant genera such as Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas, Escherichia coli and Pluralibacter.

Microbial Partnerships for Sustainable Soybean Cultivation: Mechanisms, Applications and Prospects

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Soybean production is increasingly threatened by fluctuating environmental conditions and nutrient limitations. While synthetic fertilisers can alleviate these constraints, their excessive use has raised concerns regarding long‐term soil health. Consequently, leveraging beneficial soil microbes, a diverse group of microorganisms that reside in

STRUCTURAL INSIGHT INTO THE BINDING OF ACETOHYDROXAMIC ACID TO CONSERVED RESIDUES OF APO AND HOLO UREASE IN CLINICAL ISOLATES OF KLEBSIELLA SPP.

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases
Introduction: Klebsiella is a clinically relevant bacterial genus associated with multidrug resistance. Urease is a virulence factor and a potential target for inhibitor-based interventions (Shafik et al., 2023).
