Cryo-EM structure of Helicobacter pylori urease with an inhibitor in the active site at 2.0 Å resolution

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Infection by Helicobacter pylori is associated with peptic ulcers and gastric cancer. H. pylori urease is required for colonization of the stomach and thus an attractive antimicrobial drug target. Cryo-EM analyses of the H.

Thermodynamic study of competitive inhibitors’ binding to urease [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2015
Three competitive inhibitors of urease: boric acid, 2-mercaptoethanol and phosphate buffer pH 6.45, were subjected to the studies of temperature effects on their binding to the enzyme. The first of their kind for these systems, the studies were carried out at temperatures between 15 and 35 °C in HEPES buffers.

Hydroxamic Acids Designed as Inhibitors of Urease

open access: yes, 2009
Urease is an enzyme responsible for the hydrolysis of urea into ammonia and carbamate. Humans infected by urease are exposed to a risk of chronic gastritis or cancer.

A New Urease Inhibitor from Viola betonicifolia

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
Urease has attracted much attention, as it is directly involved in the formation of infection stones and contributes to the pathogenesis of urolithiasis, pyelonephritis, ammonia and hepatic encephalopathy, hepatic coma and urinary catheter encrustation. Moreover, urease is the major cause of pathologies induced by H.

Urease Inhibitors Weaken the Efficiency of Nitrification Inhibitors in Mitigating N2O Emissions from Soils Irrigated with Alternative Water Resources [PDF]

open access: yes
It is generally accepted that inhibitors are effective in reducing agricultural nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from soils irrigated by groundwater. However, it was unclear whether these inhibitors effectively regulate N2O emissions from soils irrigated ...

Electron Bridge Enhanced Charge Polarization Enables Efficient and Ultra‐Long Stable Urea Electrosynthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An electron bridge strategy is developed to regulate charge polarization in Pd1 and Ni1 dual single‐atom sites, promoting CO2 reduction, nitrate reduction, and C–N coupling simultaneously. The resulting catalyst achieves efficient urea electrosynthesis with high activity and record durability over 1700 h.
